Equally appealing to many is the opportunity for world-class shopping, fine dining, water sports  and other outdoor adventures that our temperate climate permits as year-round activities.

Because we know that your time is precious and St. Thomas may not be familiar territory, our staff has taken the time to provide you with some resources that would help make your trip more special and personal. PASSPORTS

U.S. Citizens are not required to have a passport for travel to the United States Virgin Islands. A picture ID such as a driver’s license is required. Travel to our neighboring British Virgin Islands does require documented proof of citizenship.

TIME

Atlantic Standard Time is used here. We’re one hour ahead of Eastern Standard Time in the winter and on the same time in the summer.

TEMPERATURE

72-85 degrees Fahrenheit during the winter and 78-92 degrees during the summer.

DRIVING IN ST. THOMAS

Drivers with a US or international driver’s license may legally drive in the US Virgin Islands for 90 days without obtaining a V.I. Driver’s license. Remember to drive on the left!

DUTY-FREE SHOPPING

Currency in the Virgin Islands the US Dollar. St. Thomas is a world-class shopping port with bargain prices on such items as jewelry, perfumes, alcohol, china/crystal, art, watches and cameras. Smart shoppers will research the price of high-ticket items prior to purchase.

TRANSPORTATION

Rental Cars

National rental car agencies are located at the Cyril E. King Airport for your convenience. Small rental car agencies are also available on the island. 

A stateside or international driver’s license is a legal requirement for driving in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Remember to STAY LEFT! while driving on the island.

Ferries from the Red Hook Marina

1 mile away from the condominiums is the marina where ferries transport passengers to neighboring island such as our sister island of St. John, U.S. Virgin Islands and the British Virgin Islands.

Taxi Service

Taxis are available at the airport, beaches, Red Hook Marina, Sea Plane Terminal, etc. Check with Paradise Properties staff to request pick up on-site.

Private Safari buses run past the property toward the town of Red Hook every 15-20 minutes until 7:00 PM daily. The fare is $1.00 and $2.00 to travel into the city of Charlotte Amalie.

Directions from the Cyril E King Airport

  From the airport take Route 302 to E Moravian Highway.
Turn right onto Route 30 East and follow it to Mandela Circle.
Make a left onto Route 313, then bear right onto Route 38 East.
Stay on Route 38 East toward Sapphire Bay.
Turn left at the sign that says Sapphire Bay West Condominiums or Crystal Cove to check-in at the office.
